The laser beam was directed at an angle to the liquid surface to reduce splashing, and the slower rep rate (1Hz) also improved reproducibility. Calibration curves were constructed by ratioing the peak to the background intensity. Additional experiments using an Echelle Spectrometer system, produced slightly worse detection limits, but with the significant advantage that multiple elements could be detected simultaneously |
