A thin slice of wood (1mm thick) absorbs the liquid to be analysed (2 mins), is dried for 1 min and then can be LIBS analysed. 4.5% RSD achieved using pulse averaging. Technique has the disadvantage that elements in the wood at appreciable concentrations (Ca, Sr, Na) cannot be analysed.
