U and Eu were analysed in glass samples using both 532nm and 355nm lasers. The authors report emission intensities ~30times stronger for 355nm vs 532nm laser. The laser was focused 7mm behind the sample surface to prevent above surface breakdown. Despite good results, analysis of a sample containing 462ppm U could not be completed due to inteferences from Y and Gd |
Element | Detection Limit (ppm) | Wavelength (nm) | Other Wavelengths (nm) | Calibration Method | Calibration Range (ppm) | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Eu | 4.2000 (Calibration Curve Slope) | 459.4030 | N/A | Univariate | 2000.0000-50000.0000 | Calibration curve shows quite strong self absorption above 10000ppm |
U | 150.0000 (Calibration Curve Slope) | 358.4880 | 356.659nm | Univariate | 2000.0000-50000.0000 | Calibration curve was ratioed to 299.731nm Ca Peak. Calibration curve is linear up to 10000ppm but shows self absorption at higher concentrations. |
