In these experiments, Ce is used as a surrogate for Pu in the evaluation of LIBS for the analysis of glasses [which are expected to be used to safely store radioactive materials]. Both univariate and multivariate (PLS and PCR) were used. Spectra were collected only in the 300-500nm range. Multivariate methods gave significantly better results than Univariate, with PLS giving the best RMSECs.
